We had the chance to preview the theatre first ever tour production of the popular CBeebies show Bing. The show is ideal for all preschoolers and early years aged children, especially for first time theatre experiences. For any children who haven’t been to the theatre before, Bing Live is an ideal first theatre experience. There is plenty of singing and dancing to keep little ones entertained. Plus the storyline is all about the theatre and what happens behind the scenes to put on a show.
During the show, you join Bing, Flop and his friends from the hit TV Show on their journey to learn about the theatre. The puppeteers make the characters look realistic and the voices are spot on to the show. Even the way the puppeteers control the puppets and add extra face expressions to make themselves blend in behind the characters was impressive.
Rowan was excited as soon as the familiar theme tune came on. Bing is one of his favourite programmes to watch on CBeebies. I don’t even mind watching Bing, at the moment he hasn’t drove me mad with it constantly on loop. Each time a different character came on, Rowan was clapping and pointing away.
This was Rowan’s second theatre experience, which this one went better than the first. The show was just long enough before Rowan’s attention span cut off. Being a shorter length is perfect for all youngsters. Bing in particular was brilliant for keeping all the children’s attention with something always constantly happening.

Overall we all really enjoyed the show. I like the fact as the show is designed for preschoolers and early years, that we can all go together. Normally other productions is just us and Josie which is great for 1:1 time. But we also like doing activities as a family. Bing Live was perfect for a little boy who normally can’t sit still for too long.

Josie was the better one at sitting still from a young age compared to Rowan. I was pleasantly surprised how much Rowan enjoyed Bing Live. He loved seeing the characters brought to life, even Josie who is 9 years old enjoyed the show.
