My 6 year old daughter loves painting, horses and unicorns, so during May half term week we decided to go to Pick A Pot and Paint in Cirencester.

Beforehand I sent a message to Pick A Pot and Paint to see if they have stock of either horses or unicorns, and straight away I received a reply that both were in stock. We phoned up and booked a table as recommended for the end of half term.

Pick A Pot and Paint is situated down Blackjack Street, by Jesse Smiths Butchers. There is a large range of pottery available to paint. There is something for everybody and to suit all different budgets. Ranging from stars, cups, plates, dragons, princesses, owls, lions…

We picked which pottery we would like to paint, which was the horse and unicorn first. Then was lead to the workshop. You have your own table with an extensive range of colours and brush sizes to use. We were told how best to paint the pottery, and also some tips, such as use cotton buds to make spots. There was quite a few other tables occupied which ranged from a group of friends to groups of families on a day out.

Once Josie painted the horse brown with multi coloured spots, she started on her rainbow unicorn. Josie really enjoyed this activity, and took her time carefully painting her masterpieces. We were there a good hour and a half. Josie then decided to do a star plaque for her little brother (due Oct), to go in his newly decorated room. Once finished painting you go back to the shop to pay and receive your collection voucher. I was impressed that painting 3 items was only £22.50 and found this very reasonable. We went on the Friday and was told the pottery would be glazed and ready to collect the following Tuesday.

Once we collected the finished articles, we were very impressed how well they turned out. The colours have come out so vivid. Josie has proudly placed them on show in her bedroom. We are due to back again to do some more painting, we are also going to look into having Josie’s birthday party at Pick A Pot and Paint later on in the year. I found the staff very helpful and friendly, which also helped making the experience an enjoyable afternoon out with my daughter.

Pick A Pot and Paint is ideal for all of the family, or for groups of friends or hen parties. They even do Ladies Nights. During Ladies Night it only costs £10 to paint a mug, bowl or pottery from the selection provided, and the price includes a glass of wine or soft drink and nibbles.
