Book Haul

book haul

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is ‘Read More Books’. Yes this is different to the usual ‘Lose Weight’ and more manageable and more likely to last past February 🙂

Towards the end of last year I found myself reading more. I recently read ‘The Girl On The Train’ and ‘Me After You’. Normally I would read a book a year, unless a book really grabs me then I will read it like Johnny 5 from Short Circuit. When I read ‘Me Before You’ I done this within 2 days.

The main trouble I have when reading is, I tend to read before bed so am already partially sleepy and tend to forget what I read. The other trouble is when laying in bed I start reading, then I start thinking of jobs I have to do and i tend not to concentrate. Or I have found if finish a book one day and start a new one the next day, it takes me a few pages to get used to the new book.

My Blogging Bestie Estelle reads super quick! I mean like a super hero power quick, it amazes me how quick she reads books. Estelle is also excellent for book reviews which make sure you keep an eye on her blog. Estelle has inspired me to read more, and be more varied to try different books. I tend to read the easy reads like chick flick novels, and have read the odd autobiography.

I am currently reading Bazaar of Bad Dreams by Stephen King. I love Stephen King films, one of my faves is Misery. The book already is a very different to my normal reading type but I am really enjoying it.

I have since treated myself to some new books for in the pipeline to get my resolution in full swing. These have either been recommended by friends or I have seen on other blogger recommendation posts. My book haul contain:

A Discovery of Witches

Shadow of Night

The Night Circus

The Museum of Extraordinary Things

I am going to save the Deborah Harkness books till last as there is a 3rd book in the collection too. I really hope I can stick to this and am looking forward to reading these books. I actually used to read a lot when I was younger, especially Point Horror Books and Roald Dahl. I used to read walking home and to school and often went to the library on a Saturday after buying some Pogs with my pocket money.

One other think I want to do when I get my new planner, is the bullet journal still bookshelf and when I have completed a book this can be coloured in.

Have you any New Years Resolutions? Have you got any recommendations for my next book order?

I’ve got so many recommendations! You should read The Girl With All The Gifts by MR Carey or The Woman In Black – the book is better than the film!! Great post and I’m thrilled I’ve inspired you to read more! Xx

Thankyou Cupcake! You have indeed, there is no way I can compete with your 14 books in 10 days lol! I will add them to my list. I haven’t got round to seeing the film but will make sure I don’t before I read it xxx

Have you read The Night Circus yet? It is one of my all time favorite books, I almost skipped it because of the slow start, but fell soo in love!
The Museum of Extraordinary Things is also on my reading list, if I ever get there haha. Anywho, the book shelf is awesome. Depending on what you’re using for your notebook, I just redrew mine when I switched. It is soo much fun to color them in though.

As for book recommendations; I just finished What Alice Forgot not too long ago and it was good! Also, I’m in the middle of My Grandma Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, which so far is pretty good.

Yay I finally finished The Night Circus, loved it. Was a slow start like you said. Loved The Death House, read that in a day. I am going to draw my bookshelf this week as have some I can colour in now.

Oohhhhh I will keep an eye for those books. I go through stages of reading, sometimes can manage loads and other times only a few pages at a time. Thanks for the recommendations flower xxx
