I am not normally one for New Years Resolutions, but I am officially jumping on the bandwagon, as last year I found myself the most unorganised I have ever been! Having the change of 2 children not just 1 anymore, going back to work, a long, long, long stress of moving house not long before Christmas caused me to put myself and my happy place on hold. I absolutely hate not being organised and have a slight OCD for the need of planning every aspect of my life. But then as a busy working mummy and with the job I do, I need to be organised. Finally all this has slotted back into place (Woop Woop)! We have moved to a beautiful new house and area. A big bonus is we have made some really lovely friends which has made the transition easier. Both the kids and us are really happy and everything is officially Tickety Boo! As a fresh new start for the year and from the change of moving and settling into our new home, we are back to a routine with the children and I am finally squishing in some me time…..Hurrah! So here is my new fresh start back to Blogging and going to my happy place……..Bring on my 2017 Goals
- Change of Blog
I started as a Parent Blogger and soon fell into the love of whimsical finds and lent towards Lifestyle Blogging. I was conscious of trying not to keep only Lifestyle Blogging, but I have come to the conclusion….This is MY Blog, and from now on I will make sure I Blog about what I want to ramble on about and not worry about the perfect Blog look. So I am officially back to being a Parent Blogger, continue as a Lifestyle Blogger with a sprinkle of Beauty, Crafts and Planning thrown in for good measure. I started off 2017 with a fresh new Blog look which I am so happy with (finally)!
- Back to Blogging
I had a short break whilst moving house and over Christmas from blogging. This isn’t the first time as I seem to have a lot going on, my break before this was little Rowan popping along. I am a busy working mummy so finding time is tricky. When I was not working, being a mummy, a domestic goddess or a chef I was neglecting my hobbies. I find doing my own thing relaxing, and this year I am making time for me. So far I am so happy how I have manged to keep up blogging and have fallen in love again with my hobby.
- Be a Self-Confessed Bookworm
I recently wrote a post about my plan for more reading which you can see here. I am starting off with Stephen King -Bazaar of Bad Dreams and attempting books I wouldn’t normally go for. This is the beauty of being in the Blogging community, you see so many recommendations. So I started with a small Book Haul to get me going. I am not a quick reader but I am enjoying taking time out reading and winding down from my hectic home life. I am finding this also is helping with writing for Blogs and in my work life too.
- Illustrations/Hand Lettering
I really do miss doing my Illustrations, but now everything is settling down I am going to make sure I do at least one Illustration/Quote a week. I also want to try and join some more drawing/hand lettering challenges. Now my craft goodies are unpacked, I am finally unleashed with my tools of creativity again.
- The normal one….Lose Weight
This is on most peoples New Year Resolutions! This year I really want to take this seriously and get fitter and lose this baby tummy from Rowan, and Josie-Ann to be honest. I have been suffering with the SPD from both pregnancies and I know weight does not help. Plus with my Gestational Diabetes from being pregnant with Rowan, I was told it is in my best interests to lose some weight. I want to be able to take the kids on a nice long walk and not be crippled over with pain from the SPD.
- Memory Planning
I am always taking photos, and nowadays you tend to keep them digitally and share on Social Media. Gone are the days of taking your photo reel into the chemist for processing and adding to photo albums. I am always meaning to print ones of the kids and never get round to this. When Planner shopping, I cam across Memory Planners which are similar to Scrap-booking. I have chose a planner version as I like the uniformed look, and I can divide the months. You can do this in a scrapbook too, but personal preference has led me to order a Heidi Swapp Memory Planner which I will be posting soon. I want to try and do this weekly (depending on the activities of the week) and special spreads if we have an exciting day out or occasion. I want to decorate with pretty stickers and drawings, keep embellishments like cinema tickets if we have gone to watch a flick. And more importantly print out photos and stick. I am in the process of making baby books for both Josie-Ann and Rowan and will use some of these snippets for their personal books. I will try and upload some spreads as I achieve these.
- Out of the Frying Pan and Into The Fire
I seem to have found a love of cooking. I have always been the main chef at home, but I now actually enjoy it. Now we have a decent size kitchen I am able to store handy baking aids such as my beautiful food mixer. I have found myself to be more calm when attempt a new recipe and this has helped to actually achieve edible results. One I was impressed with was Cheese and Tomato muffins for Rowan, which the whole family loved. These were freezable so helps as on a budget. I want to mix this with my Illustrations and add to my Planner, I like the illustrated recipe look and want to produce mine in the same style. Again I want to try and blog some recipes as I come across them and add my own style.
- Be a Social Butterfly
I have some great friends and especially some I have met in the Blogging Community. I want to make more of an effort and regular snail mail to make little parcels and envelopes of happiness to post. Just to say ‘hello’ -It can be a little pick-you-up postcard I have made, or a long winded letter. Either way I am going to be making a real effort on trying to keep up with this.
Hopefully at the end of 2017, I will have achieved most of these 2017 goals…..if not then I have 2018 🙂
What is your plans for 2017? Have you any New Year Resolutions?
